I created this for a cover lesson on Act 2 Scene 3 of Macbeth. Students must read each extract from the scene and write a PEE paragraph explaining how each character reacts to news of Duncan’s death.

2 worksheets to 2/3 lessons which encourage students to explore the impact of the stage directions in An Inspector Calls. Sheet 1: 18 differentiated questions based on the initial stage directions. Sheet 2: A knowledge organiser which picks out key quotations for each member of the Birling Family before, during and after the interrogation. The students then answer the 15 questions to explore the characters’ subtle changes in behaviour through the play. Selected annotations on Tissue and Ozymandias followed by a writing frame to compare the ways power presented in the two poems. Ideal for low ability students or for students writing comparative responses for the first time. To push the more able, there are questions to encourage students to annotate Tissue independently. Also includes a high level exemplar response.

Ideal to set as an assessment after reading the first 5 chapters. Contains 3 carefully selected short extracts from chapters 2, 3 and 5. Students analyse how power is abused in each extract and answer the overall question: who is worse the humans or the pigs? There is a writing frame for students to follow to help analyse each extract and ensure they meet the criteria for A01, A02 and A03.

Various resources to help lower ability students understand Macbeth’s ‘Is this a dagger soliloquy’. Worksheets include: Create a visual storyboard to break down key lines. Use the writing frame to write a summary of the scene. Give two interpretations to key lines Give instructions for how an actor should perform the speech using the writing frame.

Writing frame for comparing Storm on the Island and Exposure (AQA Power and Conflict). The AQA style exam question is as follows: Compare the ways the poets in Storm on the Island and one other poem (Exposure) present conflict with nature.

A useful for activity for helping students to remember key quotations while also testing their understanding of the novel as a whole. The quotations have been carefully selected to cover a range of themes. The answer sheet is also included.

This was great for teaching students how to compare two poems from the Power and Conflict section of the anthology. Students follow the detailed writing frame to complete the comparison using the prompts and structure provided. The writing frame guides students to ensure they meet the criteria for A01, A02 and A03.
